Begonia Brevirimosa subsp. ‘Exotica’
A true showstopper from the jungles of New Guinea, Begonia Brevirimosa subsp. Exotica features large, elliptic leaves in dark olive green adorned with broad bands of metallic pink that catch the light beautifully. The leaves are asymmetrical and have a slight rippling or texture, adding depth and drama to its appearance. As the plant grows, its shrub-like upright habit fills out, usually reaching about 12-20 inches tall and similarly wide under ideal indoor, humid conditions.
When flowering, Exotica produces terminal inflorescences with delicate pink or purplish-pink flowers that complement its foliage without overshadowing it. The blooms are modest compared to its dramatic leaves, but they add charm when they appear.
The plants we offer are produced by tissue culture here in the USA at our home laboratory, ensuring strong, uniform specimens that are true to type. Exotica thrives in bright, indirect light (avoid direct sun), warm temperatures (ideally above 60°F), and high humidity. Water well when soil is moist but ensure excellent drainage and allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. It’s perfect for terrariums, humid greenhouses, or homes with good ambient humidity and care.
