Phalaenopsis schilleriana (TKP40 × “Alice’s Dream”)
This exceptional cross of Phalaenopsis schilleriana brings together the finest traits of two outstanding forms: the strength and substance of TKP40 and the soft pastel beauty of “Alice’s Dream.” The result is a plant with incredible potential for both flower and foliage, making it a collector’s treasure.
Phalaenopsis schilleriana is already one of the most admired orchids from the Philippines, known for its cascading sprays of fragrant pink flowers and its stunning, silver-marbled leaves. In this cross, TKP40 contributes larger blooms with deeper pink saturation and excellent flower substance, while “Alice’s Dream” adds dreamy pastel tones, softer pink hues, and a lighter, elegant presentation. Together, they create the possibility of blooms ranging from vivid rose-pink to delicately blushed pastel, all with the sweet fragrance that defines the species.
Plants maintain the classic schilleriana foliage — broad olive-green leaves overlaid with silver-gray marbling, sometimes reaching nearly a foot long. As a bonus, some plants may also show the characteristic plum coloration on the leaf undersides, adding even more ornamental appeal when not in bloom. Flower spikes are expected to arch gracefully and carry dozens of blooms at maturity.
This is a unique and limited cross in the USA, with only a handful of plants available. We are preserving and expanding it through tissue culture in our home laboratory, ensuring healthy, uniform, and true-to-type plants.
Like all Phalaenopsis schilleriana, these thrive in bright, indirect light, intermediate to warm household temperatures, and a well-drained bark mix. With good care, they will reward you with spectacular foliage and a fragrant spring display of cascading pink blossoms that show the best of both parents.
