Dancing with Smurfs Tomato — Heirloom, Rare

About the Variety
The Dancing with Smurfs Tomato is a strikingly colorful heirloom cherry tomato variety. Clusters of small, round fruits ripen to a deep indigo-blue, often with brilliant red or crimson undersides where the sun does not directly touch. The contrast between the blue shoulders and the red base makes the fruits look almost jewel-like on the vine. The skin is smooth, slightly glossy, and thin, while the flesh is sweet with a touch of tang, making it excellent for fresh snacking, salads, and garnishes.

Growth Habit

Type: Indeterminate — vigorous vines that will keep producing all season.

Maturity: Mid-season; typically 75–80 days from transplant.

Fruit Size: Small cherry-type fruits, usually in clusters of 6–8.

Yield: Heavy yields throughout the summer when properly supported.

Care & Cultivation

Starting Seeds: Sow indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost date. Transplant outdoors when soil has warmed and seedlings are sturdy.

Spacing: Plant 18–24 inches apart to ensure good airflow.

Light: Full sun (at least 6–8 hours daily). Direct sun enhances the rich indigo pigmentation.

Soil: Prefers nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. Compost additions improve performance.

Watering: Keep soil evenly moist; deep watering is best. Consistency reduces splitting and improves flavor.

Support: Provide stakes, trellises, or cages to keep vines upright and clusters of fruit accessible.

Fertilization: Start with a balanced fertilizer, then switch to higher potassium and phosphorus once flowering and fruiting begin.

Our Growing Practices
All of our plants are cultivated here in the USA, grown from seed, cuttings, or tissue culture. This ensures strong genetics, healthy plants, and a reliable source for gardeners who want to add heirloom or rare varieties to their collection.
