Fittonia ‘Red Star’ is a striking nerve plant variety with deep green leaves highlighted by vivid, star-like red veins. The bold contrast between the dark foliage and the bright red pattern gives this plant a dramatic look, making it an excellent choice for terrariums, dish gardens, or as a colorful accent in small pots. Its low, creeping growth habit allows it to spread into a dense mat of foliage.
This variety remains compact, usually under 6 inches tall, while spreading wider with age. It grows best in bright, indirect light to maintain strong vein coloration, but it can adapt to lower light conditions indoors.
Fittonia ‘Red Star’ prefers soil that stays evenly moist but not soggy, along with moderate to high humidity to keep the leaves healthy and vibrant. A well-draining mix that holds some moisture is ideal, and misting or humidity trays will help prevent crisping at the edges. Fertilizing lightly during the growing season supports steady growth and rich color.
All of our plants are propagated and tissue cultured here in the USA in our home lab, ensuring clean, healthy, and carefully grown specimens.
