Ivory Pear Tomato — Heirloom, Rare
About the Variety
The Ivory Pear Tomato is a charming heirloom cherry type known for its creamy ivory to pale yellow, pear-shaped fruits. These small tomatoes are both ornamental and delicious, offering a mild, sweet flavor with very low acidity. Their unusual color and shape make them an excellent choice for adding contrast to salads, fresh garden snacking, or mixed baskets of cherry tomatoes. The plants are heavy producers, with long clusters that keep ripening through the summer.
Growth Habit
Type: Indeterminate — vines continue to grow and produce throughout the season.
Maturity: Approximately 75–80 days from transplant.
Fruit Size: Small pear-shaped cherries, typically 1–2 inches long.
Appearance: Creamy white to ivory-yellow fruits with a smooth, glossy skin.
Yield: Very prolific, producing large clusters of fruit all season.
Care & Cultivation
Starting Seeds: Sow indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost date. Transplant outdoors once soil is warm and seedlings are well established.
Spacing: 18–24 inches between plants to promote airflow and reduce disease risk.
Light: Full sun (6–8+ hours daily).
Soil: Fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist. Deep watering is recommended to encourage strong roots and prevent cracking.
Support: Use trellises, cages, or stakes, as vines are vigorous and fruit clusters can become heavy.
Fertilization: Begin with balanced fertilizer during vegetative growth, then switch to higher potassium and phosphorus blends once flowering begins.
Our Growing Practices
All of our plants are cultivated here in the USA, grown from seed, cuttings, or tissue culture. This ensures strong genetics, healthy plants, and a reliable source for gardeners who want to add heirloom or rare varieties to their collection.
