Phalaenopsis Veitchiana
Phalaenopsis Veitchiana is a historic primary hybrid first registered in 1898, created from a cross between Phalaenopsis Equestris and Phalaenopsis Schilleriana. It combines the free-flowering habit and compact form of Equestris with the graceful foliage and pastel floral influence of Schilleriana.
The blooms are soft pink to blush with a deeper magenta lip, carried in cascading sprays that can last for several weeks. Mature plants often produce multiple spikes in succession, making them dependable and rewarding bloomers. The leaves are broad, leathery, and patterned with a subtle sheen inherited from Schilleriana, adding to the plant’s ornamental value even when not in bloom.
This orchid thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers a chunky orchid bark mix with good drainage. Water when roots turn silvery, allowing them to dry slightly between waterings. Moderate to high humidity (50–70%) and regular light fertilization during the growing season will support strong growth and reliable flowering.
All of our orchids are propagated and tissue cultured here in the USA in our home lab, ensuring clean, healthy, and carefully grown specimens.
